Official Announcement - Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) of the Philippines

The Professional Regulation Commission of the Philippines has made a historic announcement regarding regional professional cooperation. Through a landmark agreement signed with Indonesia, the PRC has established a Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) for Interior Design Services. This agreement represents a significant step forward in fostering professional mobility and regional integration within ASEAN.

The MRA was formally signed on November 20, 2023 in Jakarta, Indonesia by PRC Chairperson Hon. Charito A. Zamora and Mr. Ir. Taufik Widjoyono of Indonesia's Construction Services Development Board (CSDB). This agreement creates a framework for mutual recognition of qualifications and professional experience for interior designers operating in both countries, strengthening professional exchange and establishing consistent best practices across the region.

Beyond facilitating professional mobility, the MRA demonstrates a shared commitment to standardizing professional qualifications, encouraging innovation in the field, and building a cohesive interior design community across ASEAN. To implement and oversee the agreement, the Indonesia–Philippines Interior Design Council (IPIDC) has been established to ensure consistent application and ongoing compliance.

Application Guidelines

Under the Philippine Monitoring Committee for Indonesia-Philippines Interior Designer (PMC-IPID) Resolution No. 02 s. 2025, which formally approved the administrative and procedural guidelines for the registration program, the PRC has opened applications for registration as an Indonesia-Philippines Interior Designer (IPID). Qualified Filipino interior designers are now eligible to apply for this professional designation.

To apply, interested interior designers must submit their application documents to the Regulation Division of their nearest PRC Regional Office. A prescribed application fee is required at the time of submission. It is important to note that incomplete applications will be returned to the applicant for completion before they can be processed.
